Hi Lisa, I'm glad you found the review helpful. We are in a large local Christian co-op that was started by a group of moms years and years ago. I consider us very fortunate to have this. Overall, it's been a great experience. Not perfect, but really great overall.

I think part finding what works for your family is just looking around and finding out what is available. People are starting cottage schools that can meet a similar need.

Every group is so different. It really depends on the people running it. Some require all parents to teach and some have a fee structure so you are paying for someone to be the teacher/tutor.

Unless you really feel compelled to have your son in something for kindergarten, I don't think it's necessary. If you are involved with other activities (play dates, church, etc.) then I don't think a kindergartner NEEDS a co-op.

There are also things like Bible Study Fellowship, Community Bible Study, etc. that have nursery and activities for children so that would be an option for all of you this year.

I spent my Sunday researching car buying after our main car crossed over to the big junkyard in the sky yesterday. You will laugh, but I haven't purchased a car from a dealer since... 1994. LOL! The last two cars we've bought from my parents and worn them out. We have to buy a car this week. If you think of us, say a little prayer that we get this right.

Happy Tuesday! What is up in your corner of the world? I'm getting on top of paperwork and my website to do list after focusing most of my time on car buying the past few days. Whew. Feels good to be back at my computer doing what I enjoy!

Someday people are going to look back and ask why people in the 2010s were obsessed with taking pictures of their feet. Wedding pictures with everyone looking at their feet, etc. It's really weird.

Hi from Texas, Sallie! I just wanted to stop by and let you know how much I appreciate your blog. We're new to homeschooling, but as a special needs mama, I am beyond convinced that the simple, cozy life is exactly what we need. Blessings to you! ๐Ÿ’— Anna in TX

Hi Anna! It's so nice to meet you.
Congratulations on starting your homeschool journey. I truly believe that special needs kids can benefit so much for a simple, cozy life. Did you see the review of the book I did just recently? If the themes of the book fit your child's particular needs, I think you would find it very encouraging. This is the post. https://sallieborrink.com/homeschooling-child-language-based-learning-disabilities-lbld/

Happy Friday! It's a gorgeous 54 degrees right now. We have friends coming for a visit today that we haven't seen since one of my baby showers! They have never met Caroline so I'm excited for them to meet each other.
What are you doing today?

Last night David and Caroline set up the telescope. We saw Saturn (complete with rings!) and Jupiter (with four moons!). It was really cool. This is our telescope. https://amzn.to/2k2HOKe

I've spent the last week watching videos re: how Google has changed things in search. The results? They are stealing content from content creators in posting the answer snippets that require no click through to the website of the person who wrote the content. They also are pushing out small websites and bloggers.

"Authority" is everything so posts I had that did very well and sent me a lot of traffic (such as my Fancy Nancy Birthday Party post) have been pushed to the second page of results in some cases in favor of sites like Target, Michaels, Etsy, etc.

That's just the tip of the iceberg. More and more online power and the ability to make a living online is being put into fewer and fewer hands who control all the decisions about who and what we can find and not find online.
